1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name and email address. This information is used to identify your account and communicate with you about your orders and activity on the platform.

Location Data

We collect your approximate location (latitude and longitude) to show you nearby stores and products. When you save a default location in your account preferences, those coordinates are stored on our servers to remember your preferred search area. Location is not tracked in the background and we do not collect location history beyond your saved default.

Messages

When you send messages to merchants or receive messages from them, the content of those messages is stored on our servers to enable communication between buyers and sellers. Messages are only accessible to the parties involved in the conversation.

Order Information

When you place a pickup order, we store the details of that order including the items selected, store location, and order status. This information is shared with the merchant fulfilling your order.

Device Information

We may collect standard device information such as your device type and operating system version to ensure the app functions correctly on your device.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To create and manage your account
• To show you nearby stores and products based on your location
• To process and fulfill your pickup orders
• To enable communication between customers and merchants
• To send you transactional emails such as order confirmations and password resets
• To improve the performance and reliability of the Service

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

• With merchants: When you place an order or send a message, the relevant merchant receives your name and order details necessary to fulfill your request.
• Service providers: We use trusted third-party services including AWS (file storage), Supabase (database hosting), and Resend (transactional email). These providers process your data only as necessary to provide their services and are bound by confidentiality obligations.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law or in response to valid legal process.

4. Advertising

Community Marketplace does not display advertisements and does not share your data with advertising networks or analytics platforms for advertising purposes.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account information and order history for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or compliance purposes.

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure password hashing, and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Withdraw consent for location access at any time through your device settings

8. Children's Privacy

Community Marketplace is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
